Audiovisual Design Engineer
Summary:
Crown Point Systems is seeking an experienced Audiovisual Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for designing and documenting multi-domain audiovisual systems along with network, security, communications, and other C5ISR solutions for our customers across the DoD and other Federal agencies. You will work directly with the Business Development team in support of new sales and directly with the Technical Operations team in support of project execution.
This is a remote position based anywhere in the continental USA and will be a mix of primarily remote work with occasional travel to client sites, trade shows, demos / training, and to the Crown Point Systems office in San Diego, CA. This position reports directly to the VP of Technical Operations & Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- In a pre-sales capacity, analyze requirements and develop advanced system designs, delivering a Bill of Materials and Statement of Work along with other supporting documentation and consultation to the account managers.
- In some cases, travel to customer sites with the account manager for requirements development, room surveys, and other data gathering.
- Interface directly with customers as a technical Subject Matter Expert in support of business development, project coordination, and operational support.
- Work with sales and project management to develop accurate labor and expense estimates and provide input on project schedules and milestones.
- In a project (post-sales) capacity, create highly accurate documentation including detailed material lists, wiring drawings, architectural drawings, equipment and furniture layouts, rack and panel drawings, pull schedules, network drawings, IP schema, multi-room requirements matrices, and other documentation as required.
Identify and assist with proactive resolution of project risks, open items, and field challenges to ensure clean project execution. - Participate in peer review, process improvement, and other collaboration with team members.
- Research and monitor new technology and maintain manufacturer relationships to identify unique offerings, elegant solutions, and market differentiators across the business.
- Identify potential changes to scope of work and equipment or installation requirements during project coordination and communicate them to sales and project management.
- Be highly responsive to installation and commissioning teams in the field in support of efficient, accurate implementation.
- Occasionally, assist with final commissioning, testing, and training on site in support of project closeout.
- Manage assigned tasks and deliverables while adapting to emerging priorities.
- Provide regular updates to management on task progress and overall workload.
- In general, use expertise and experience to create designs that maximize performance, usability, and reliability while minimizing cost, complexity, and integration time.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in audiovisual technology with at least 2 year of proven success in a key design role, preferably designing secure multi-domain solutions in the Federal space.
- Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of audiovisual equipment and systems, along with the analytical skills to solve complex challenges that balance multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with important clients and partners with professionalism and decorum.
- Experience with IP networks including working knowledge of common networking hardware, VLANs, subnets, routing, multicast, QoS and PoE.
- Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with customer IT and security staff regarding hardware and software configurations, risk management frameworks, vulnerability mitigation, and other enterprise network security concerns.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation quality.
- AVIXA CTS-D certification with CompTIA Network+ / Security+ and/or Cisco CCNA / CCENT certifications; or the equivalent demonstrated knowledge level.
- Ability to travel up to 15% as needed, sometimes with short notice.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check, and preferably to obtain a DoD security clearance. A previous or active Top Secret security clearance is a very strong plus.
